A complete supercharger kit for a V8 performance car typically costs several thousand dollars before installation. The East Coast Supercharging kits we list for Corvettes and Camaros run from $5,874.50 to $8,144.00. On top of the kit, budget for installation labor, calibration, and any supporting parts your build needs, such as fuel system upgrades, a stronger clutch on manual cars, and higher-octane fuel.

What a complete kit includes
A complete kit generally includes the supercharger head unit, mounting brackets, drive belt and pulleys, inlet and discharge plumbing, and in many cases an intercooler and fuel injectors. Read the kit’s parts list carefully; what is included varies, and the kit price only compares fairly with another if both include the same parts.
Installation cost
Installing a supercharger is a skilled job that takes many hours, and shop labor rates vary widely by region. Ask for a written quote that lists labor, fluids, gaskets and any parts the shop expects to replace while the front of the engine is apart. Experienced owners with good tools do install kits themselves, but a mistake can be costly.
Calibration and supporting parts
- Calibration: the engine computer must be calibrated for the added air and fuel; this is not optional.
- Fuel system: higher power may need a larger fuel pump and injectors; see fuel pump sizing.
- Intercooling: see what an intercooler does.
- Clutch on manual cars, which may slip with the added torque; see clutch stages.
- Cooling and gauges to watch air-fuel ratio, boost and temperatures.
Running costs
A supercharged engine needs premium fuel, periodic belt and supercharger oil service, and closer attention to the engine’s health; see supercharger maintenance and how long a supercharger lasts.
Is it worth the money?
For power per dollar, a supercharger kit is one of the most direct routes on a V8, and it keeps the engine’s stock internals in many street builds. See is a supercharger worth it?, how much horsepower a supercharger adds and supercharger vs turbo.
