The Honda Civic Si’s exhaust differs by generation: the 10th-generation Si (2017-2020) and the 11th-generation Si (2022 on) both use a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, with the exhaust running from the turbo through a catalytic converter and resonators to a rear section with the muffler and tips. Cat-back systems change sound and weight, and are specific to generation and body style, so coupe and sedan versions are not interchangeable on the 10th generation.
Civic Si exhaust by generation
| Generation | Years | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 10th gen | 2017-2020 (some listings to 2021) | Center-exit tips; coupe and sedan cat-backs differ |
| 11th gen | 2022 on | New chassis; shares many parts with the Acura Integra |
Choosing a Civic Si cat-back
- Body style: match coupe or sedan exactly.
- Sound: resonated systems reduce drone for daily driving; see exhaust drone.
- Power: a cat-back adds little by itself; turbo-side parts and calibration matter more; see does exhaust add horsepower?
- Emissions: cat-backs leave the catalytic converter in place.
Civic Si exhaust sound
The stock Si is quiet, and owners usually want a fuller sound without highway drone. Look for systems with resonators or chambered mufflers if you drive long distances.
Turbo-side parts and calibration
Because the Si is turbocharged, most of the available power gain comes from the intake, intercooler, turbo-side exhaust and engine calibration rather than the cat-back. Any change ahead of the catalytic converter must keep the emissions equipment and comply with your state’s rules. A cat-back is the easy first step for sound; the rest is a planned package.
Choosing tips
The 10th-generation Si uses a center-exit layout, and many cat-backs keep it with polished, burned or black tips. Check that the tip style and size suit your rear bumper before ordering.
Integra and Civic Si
The 2023-and-later Acura Integra shares much of its platform with the 11th-generation Civic, and some exhaust systems are offered for both; check the listing for exact fitment.
Installation
Cat-backs bolt on at the existing flange and hangers, and most owners can install one with basic tools and a lift or jack stands. Replace gaskets, check hanger alignment and recheck clamps after the first drive.
