The engine code and model years are in each listing; the eighth character of your VIN identifies the engine your vehicle was built with. Later 5.3 engines from the 2014-2015 model years on are the Gen V design, which is not part of the LS family; those are listed on the 5.3 engines page.
What makes an engine an LS?
LS is shorthand for GM’s Gen III and Gen IV small-block V8s, which began with the LS1 in the 1997 Corvette. Truck versions carry different codes (such as LM7, LC9 and LY5 for the 5.3) and were sold under the Vortec name, but they share the same basic architecture. - Replacing a factory engine: match the model year and engine code; block material (cast iron or aluminum) and options such as Active Fuel Management differ between versions.
